My research interests span social aspects of language use and my goal is to answer the following two different but broadly related questions: "How do we enable machines to understand the nuances of human language use in social contexts?" and "How can we use advances in NLP and machine learning to enhance user experience in various scenarios of human-AI interaction?"
In this sense, my work aims to understand the social factors that undergird language use towards building language technologies that are socially aware.
